Staff Spotlight: Tessa Mann

Job title: Early Childhood Special Education Teacher

Education experience: I graduated from Bethlehem Academy High School (Faribault, MN) in 2014. In 2018 I graduated from Gustavus Adolphus College with my Bachelor Degree in Communication Studies. I am currently pursuing my Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Special Education through Mankato State University.

Years with the district: This is my second year working for Faribault Public Schools.

What are some of your hobbies and interests? Outside of teaching I enjoy running, exploring the great outdoors (70° and above) and spending time at the nearest target. J

What’s something interesting about you that not a lot of people know? I have ran 3 half-marathons and hope to run a full marathon this year.

Why did you decide to pursue a career in education? Teachers impact the world and everyone in it. I have a feeling that almost anyone could name at least one teacher who had a positive impact on their education/life. I became a teacher in hopes that I can be that person for my students someday.

What do you enjoy most about working with students? My favorite part about working with students is the ability that they have to make me smile and laugh. The energy and joy that they bring to school everyday is contagious!

Share a fun project you've worked on or innovative teaching method you've used this year. What made it memorable for you? This school year I have had the opportunity to provide push-in services for number of “off-site” Early Childhood classrooms. It has allowed me to gain new experience in the classroom, learn more about what’s happening outside of McKinley and collaborate with some really awesome teachers!

What do you enjoy about being part of Faribault Public Schools? The staff! No matter where I go in the district, I always find myself meeting new faces who are eager to lend a helping hand and share their ideas and wisdom.
